While having a good mattress is paramount to better sleep, there are plenty of other ways you can turn your bedroom into the perfect sleeping environment. A new set of pillows or sheets and perhaps a weighted blanket can be a great place to start. And sleep accessories like sunrise alarm clocks, sleep masks, and mattress cooling pads, and even appliances like humidifiers and air purifiers, can enhance your room.

Consumer Reports has tested all of these products, and we keep tabs on how much they cost so that we can help you find the best options and the best prices. Below you’ll find those that have excelled in our lab tests and home evaluations that are also discounted right now.

If you’re a CR member, you can take advantage of some exclusive mattress and bedding deals on brands like GhostBed, Coop Home Goods, and Saatva. You’ll need to be logged in to see the details.

    Pillows

The Talalay latex pillows from Brooklyn Bedding may be a good choice for side sleepers because they got above-average scores for that test. They’re a bit subpar for back sleepers, though. But these pillows got top marks for breathability, so they should help with temperature control while you sleep.

Why it’s a good deal: A 25 percent discount is one of the best offers you’ll see from this brand, making it a compelling reason to buy. Just use the code REFRESH25 at checkout.

    Sheets

This Brooklinen set will fit a 14-inch mattress (or shorter). Our testers note that these sheets don’t shrink as much as some other cotton sheets we tested. They earn above-average scores for both fit and shrinkage, which means though they do tend to get smaller during washes, they don’t deform all that much over time. Luxe Core sheets are on the softer side, based on our sensory test. Labels along each side that read “short side” and “long side” make clear which way to make the bed.

Why it’s a good deal: Brooklinen is offering 25 percent off as part of its annual Birthday Sale. The sale will end May 9.

    Weighted Blankets

    Luna Weighted Blanket

The cover of the Luna weighted blanket is cotton, and it’s filled with glass beads. It does not come with a duvet cover, but you have several colors and materials to choose from if you’d like to buy one separately. Luna says you can wash it in cold water on the gentle setting and hang it to dry or tumble-dry on low heat. A staffer who has tried the Luna weighted blanket found it to be a solid blanket for the budget-friendly price, but the materials didn’t look and feel as smooth and sleek as the pricier options we tried.

Why it’s a good deal: With the on-page coupon, you’re saving even more than the listed sale price.

    YnM Weighted Blanket

The 15-pound YnM weighted blanket has a cotton cover but doesn’t come with a duvet cover, though YnM sells covers separately. The beads are made of glass. YnM says you can wash and dry the blanket by machine on the gentle cycle but strongly recommends washing the duvet cover rather than the inner blanket. Color options depend on the size and weight you choose.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a significant discount compared with the next best price at Amazon, and it’s available for this price only at Walmart.

    Mattress Cooling Pads

    BedJet 3 Climate Comfort System

The BedJet sleep system is a tube placed at the end of your bed that blows air from a fan. BedJet offers a lightweight, double-layer sheet (sold separately) to help distribute the air, but you can also simply use the hose with your current bedding. Because it uses just a fan to cool, the BedJet’s ability to lower your bed’s temperature depends on your room’s temperature. In our tests, it earned only a mediocre rating for cooling. But set to warming mode, it earns an excellent rating for heating.

This was also the noisiest bed cooler that we tested, especially at the higher fan speeds (it sounded like a typical fan in your ear). That could be a feature rather than a flaw if you like sleeping with white noise.

Why it’s a good deal: This Lightning Deal won’t last long, so act fast if you want this cooling device.

    White Noise Machines

YogaSleep Dohm Uno White Noise Machine

The Dohm Uno is a device that’s tactile and mechanical—a white noise machine in its simplest form—although its bulky design might not be for everyone. It’s a physical fan in a dome-shaped case with vent holes that you twist to adjust the volume. There is only one sound, a pure white noise whooshing that comes from the fan’s hum, and one switch to turn it on and off.

Getting this one is a slight gamble in case that one sound isn’t your cup of tea, but most of our evaluators liked it. Because the Dohm is a physical fan, it can cause the surface it’s sitting on to vibrate, which two evaluators experienced, but is easy to remedy by placing the machine on a book.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the only retailer with a discount, and 20 percent off is always worth considering.

    Sunrise Alarm Clocks

    JALL Sunrise Alarm Clock

The JALL Wake Up Light Sunrise Alarm Clock is at least half the price of other popular models like those offered by Philips and Lumie. But from an ease-of-use standpoint, this model comes out on top. It has two independent alarms (so that you can set them for different times, depending on your routine), seven alarm tones (including “wind bells” and birds chirping), an FM radio, and a fall-asleep mode that simulates a sunset (though it lacks a white-noise option).

Why it’s a good deal: It’s been on sale for about $40 for months, but the on-page coupon helps you save an extra few dollars.

    Philips SmartSleep Wake-up Light HF3520/60

With the Philips SmartSleep Wake-up Light, you can wake up to one of five nature sounds or an FM radio. According to the manufacturer’s description, the clock glows with red, orange, and yellow colors that ultimately brighten to a maximum intensity of 300 lux (a measure of illuminance an object produces). You can adjust brightness levels according to your preference. Pressing snooze will temporarily shut off the sound alarm but not the light, which may keep you from falling back asleep (a good thing, if you truly want to wake up). The SmartSleep is pretty easy to set up and use, receiving high marks in both categories. Those needing help winding down at bedtime will also find the Philips wake-up light worth it for its simulated sunset feature.

Why it’s a good deal: This clock doesn’t go on sale often. We’ve seen it for less around major holidays, but saving a little is always better than paying full price if you need it now.

    Humidifiers

With the evaporative Vornado Huey, keeping a small room adequately moist is no problem: It gets our top score for output. As an evaporative model, it creates moisture by using a fan to blow air over a wet wick, so it’s not as quiet as some models. (Plus, that wick has to be replaced regularly.) There’s no automatic shutoff when the water is used up, but an indicator signals an empty tank.

Why it’s a good deal: This matches the best price we’ve seen for this model.

The Crane Drop humidifier is intended for rooms up to 250 square feet and has a stellar overall rating in CR’s tests. This model comes with an empty-tank indicator and has an automatic shutoff. Easy to use and energy-efficient, this model also scores top marks for its low noise levels.

Why it’s a good deal: This model is consistently $10 cheaper in both the solid white and clear white colors than it is for the other color options, making it a great low-cost option.

    Slippers

    L.L.Bean Wicked Good Slippers

These L.L.Bean Wicked Good Slippers have a lot going for them: They’re made with sheepskin and lined with super-soft shearling (the pelt of sheepskin). But they were not the favorite of our testers, though none ranked them in the gutter. Some testers found their heels slipping uncomfortably out of the back of the slipper while walking, and the rawhide ties appear mostly for aesthetics.

Why it’s a good deal: The Ash Rose and Bramble Berry colorways of these slippers are the only options on sale right now, so if either of those are the color for you, you’re in luck.

    Ugg Fluff Yeah Slides

Comfort is key for those self-care days, and these Ugg slides can help you really treat your feet right. One tester called them “comically fluffy” and said it felt like she was walking on clouds. But these are heavy clouds, weighing in at 1 pound for the pair, heavier than most slippers. The soles are made of thick rubber, so you can wear them outdoors, too.

Why it’s a good deal: Uggs are very coveted right now, so any discount is worth a look, let alone a 40 percent savings at Ugg—a new low in select colors.

    Air Purifiers

The portable Blueair Protect 7470i features a handy filter indicator to alert you when you need to change or clean the filter. It also has a dirt sensor and three speeds. On its highest setting, it’s terrific at removing dust, pollen, and smoke, but expect a bit of noise. Try it on low and you’ll have more quiet while still experiencing solid results. This model is designed for floor or tabletop use in a space that’s about 420 square feet. It costs about $140 a year to maintain and weighs just under 28 pounds.

Why it’s a good deal: This air purifier usually goes for $600, so this is a major discount.

    Space Heaters

The Vornado VMH600 has the best overall performance of all the space heaters in our tests. It tops our spot-heating test while falling just a bit short on room heating, where it earns an above-average rating. It’s one of the quieter heaters in our tests, too, and sports safety features such as a tip-over switch and a timer that allows you to program when the heater turns on and off. It weighs 10 pounds and has an easy-to-use fan and a remote control.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a modest discount, but it’s a top-tested model in CR’s rankings, making it worth a look.

With a name like Heat Storm, you expect a lot, and both the Heat Storm Mojave and the Sahara (not currently on sale) hit our spot-heating test out of the park. The Mojave also earns above-average ratings for room heating, hot surface, noise, and ease of use. It weighs 9.5 pounds and comes with a fan and a remote control.

Why it’s a good deal: This model is back down to within a few dollars of the best price we’ve seen in months, making it a great time to buy.

    Brooklinen Super-Plush Bath Towels

The Brooklinen Super-Plush bath towels are perfect for anyone who likes a towel as big as a blanket after their shower. These oversized towels are a whopping 53 inches long and 28 inches wide. They were also the most absorbent in our evaluation but took the longest time to dry. There are lots of color options to choose from as well.

Why it’s a good deal: The retailer is offering 25 percent off for its Birthday Sale, the biggest discount we’ve ever seen.

    Gaiam Performance Yoga Mat

This Gaiam performance yoga mat dries very quickly. It offers excellent grip on the floor and on hands and feet, but only a fair amount of cushioning.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the usual sale price, but it comes and goes.

    Gaiam Foldable Yoga Mat

This mat dries quickly but offers minimal cushioning. It offers only a fair amount of grip on the floor and on its dry top surface. Instead of rolling up, it folds into a 10x12-inch rectangle, which could be nice if you like to pack up quickly after your practice.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a modest discount, but the yoga mat is already one of the most affordable options we’ve tried, and the extra few dollars in savings make it even more appealing.
